Check Out This $51,000 Television!
I was shopping at my local Best Buy this weekend when I came across this beauty. The image was so crisp, clear, and bright that I almost mistook it for a window. It would certainly be an improvement over the 27 inch CRT television that I currently had in my living room.
But then, in a moment of wisdom, I started to think about what a purchase like this would mean financially in the long term. Now, the quick answer would simply take the $4,000 up front payment and calculate the return at a certain rate over a certain period. Let
Who cares. Most people that are stupid enough to buy a 52″ 1080P Flat Panel either have enough money to not worry about 50k or they are just plan stupid. (This TV will be half this price in 24 months and half that in 48.) 1080 is fine, most programming companys broadcast in 720P anyways.
I could also create a formula that would show you how much money you could save by not wasting your time thinking of things like this.
Well, if someone offered me the TV for free, I’d take it. I could use a replacement for my 27″ curved-screen CRT which I bought from my friend for $100 (including the entertainment center and DVD player) six years ago.

I certainly agree that there are some that can afford it. But a lot of people just want it. The inspiration for this quick post was a friend of mine who just bought a third, $2,000 LCD FOR HIS BATHROOM. This guy makes in the neighborhood of $40k and he has over $20,000 in credit card debt.
