I think that, all too often, one spouse absorbs all of the financial stress because the other never sees the books. It's a good idea to regularly schedule conversations about the current financial status and goal achievement.

i couldn't agree more... i think that one factor that contributes to a harmonious marriage is a harmony in money matters between husband and wife... let's face is it money is what it is, it makes the world turn, and it helps if both parties settle on an 'agreement' of sorts when it comes to handling finances... although sometimes its bit awkward to talk about money troubles because the last thing we want to do is fight over money. and most of the time everything goes south when fight starts from there. it pays to talk about it, and to be open about it as early as possible...

I see this quite often. When people first get together the last thing they talk about is finances. For many it is an issue that is too emotive and as a result a communication block forms. From there it is just all downhill.

Hi,

We are in the process of compiling a comprehensive “Do Follow” List. We have placed your blog on our list. The list can be seen at http://www.tucsonseosolutions.com/dofollowlistoflists. If you do not see your listing that is because it is updated every Monday. We were hoping that you might consider linking to us and perhaps even writing about our effort.

This is probably one of the biggest financial issues in marriage. The concept where one person wants the money control.
I've recently asked some couples how they handle this problem. They all replied, "we have separate bank accounts"

Separate bank accounts means that each person has control over their money.
